Fire The Ruling Class
Thomas Jefferson
"Aware of the tendency of power to degenerate into abuse, the worthies of our country have secured its independence by the establishment of a Constitution and form of government for our nation, calculated to prevent as well as to correct abuse."
--Thomas Jefferson to Washington Tammany Society, 1809.
Mark Twain
"We have the best congress money can buy."
Alexander Hamilton
"A fondness for power is implanted, in most men, and it is natural to abuse it, when acquired."

Waste and Inefficiency

This website is devoted to the cause of taking America back from career politicians. This long-running problem has exacerbated three inherently negative aspects of government, waste, inefficiency and corruption.

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." - Thomas Jefferson

When it comes to getting the most bang for a buck, government spending is fundamentally different from private spending. Consider this simple explanation of that difference.

If you spend your money on your needs you are motivated to get the best value. If you spend someone else's money on your needs you are still motivated to get value, but because it's not your money you may not be as concerned about the price. If you spend someone else's money on someone else's needs (especially when you know neither party) your motivation to get a good value or a good price is substantially reduced.

The last example above describes government spending. It clearly shows the organic inefficiency that cannot be removed from government spending. No matter how well intentioned the goal may be, using government to accomplish it means waste and inefficiency will accompany the effort.

Add a corrupt ruling class in the pursuit of power to the equation and it gets even worse. A new motivation is added to the mix, which is: "how can I make something from the transaction."

Corruption

"There is no distinctly American criminal class - except Congress"--. Mark Twain

Throughout our nations history corruption has been a part of government. It is unlikely to ever be otherwise.

Washington D.C is a city where the greatest accumulation of power in the world exists. Like a moth attracted to the light, those in search of power for the sake of power are drawn to it. When you place inherently inefficient government in the hands of a dominant ruling class that is in a never ending pursuit of power, you have the perfect environment for corruption.

It is not our purpose here to document specific examples of government corruption. Nor is it our mission to identify those who are corrupt. Below you will find links to other organizations dedicated to such tasks. If you are unaware of the substantial degree of corruption, waste and inefficiency that plagues government spending you should visit these sites to see for yourself.

The founders understood well the potential for corruption in a powerful government. They warned against it.

"The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse."--James Madison, speech in the Virginia constitutional convention, December 2, 1829

Perhaps one of the most famous of all quotes from the founders was this simple truth quoted often by Thomas Jefferson. "The government that governs least governs best".
